Two systems, not one vague promise. Every turn, relevant past messages are pulled back by meaning rather than recency, and each hit arrives with the exchange around it so context is not amputated. Alongside that, rolling summaries chain forward so a months-old thread still knows who you are. New messages become recallable within a couple of minutes. You can also write memories yourself, one per line, and they stick to that thread.

A ready-made starting point published by another user: an ordered cast with a marked lead and an opening scene already written.
